School Spotlight: Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School

Our Lady of Lourdes, a Catholic school in Brevard County, serves Melbourne as the first STREAM certified school in the Diocese of Orlando. The curriculum at OLL challenges students academically while encouraging them to live in their faith. Each student has the opportunity to explore their unique God-given talents with individualized attention from teachers and staff. Attending OLL is like learning with a second family. Here are some of the ways this school helps children thrive.

Academics

Our Lady of Lourdes is the first Catholic school in the Orlando Diocese to become STREAM certified. This means the academic curriculum seamlessly integrates science, technology, religion, art and mathematics into everyday lessons. A challenging yet rewarding curriculum prepares students for high school and helps strengthen their faith in God. Every subject involves Catholic teachings and the use of technology. Teachers give differentiated instruction based on each individual child’s learning style.

Lancers Athletics

The Lancers sports teams help promote the building of mature, well-rounded individuals. Students in grades K-8 can play any number of sports, including volleyball, soccer and football. Team sports allow children to build a sense of teamwork while reaching their athletic goals. These programs, offered through Catholic Youth Sports, are open to all students in good academic standing.

Extracurricular Activities

While classroom learning and faith formation help lay the foundation, after school programs give students space to learn about and express themselves. Students can participate in clubs, plays, games, community service projects and more. Being involved in extracurricular activities allows children to develop their talents and interests outside the classroom. These clubs also provide a chance to form friendships with students who aren’t in the same classes while building self-esteem and leadership skills.

Campus Ministry

This Catholic school offers children and families of all faiths a supportive environment in which to nurture spiritual and character development. Along with attending services, students can help plan liturgy and participate in special prayer services throughout the year. The school also puts on special events like a Blessing of the Pets, a First Communion retreat and Make a Difference Day. This helps children form and grow into their individual faith.

Our Brevard Catholic schools challenge students to be creative and critical thinkers who integrate faith, moral leadership, and compassionate service to make a better world. Through a low student-teacher ratio, classroom technology, and a variety of enrichment activities, we strive to inspire excellence in our students. Contact us to learn more!
