Kate Spong Helps Second-Graders Grow in Mind, Body, and Soul at St. Joseph Catholic School
As a Second-Grade Teacher, Mrs. Spong improves learning outcomes for her students by creating an interactive, enriching environment. “I try to engage students by using movement as much as I can. Even when answering math problems, we are moving in and out of our seats to remain engaged!” “My goal is for students to leave my classroom at the end of the school year feeling responsible for themselves, self-motivated, caring, mindful, and truly loved,” she says. “My students hold such a special place in my heart. I want them to know that I am always in their corner.”
Laura Davis Prepares Ascension Catholic School Students for Success With Enriching Technology Class
As a Computers & Technology Teacher, Mrs. Davis teaches students essential digital literacy and technology skills that help them thrive in a technology-driven world, while also incorporating faith formation, character growth, and moral development in her classroom. “The lessons and topics we discuss in class relate directly to challenges students work through in their daily lives. That real-life connection is so important to ensure students are fully engaged in the content.”
Becky Smith Leads Exceptional Math Education at St. Mary Catholic School in Rockledge
As a 30-year Math Teacher, Mrs. Smith’s goal is to ensure her middle-school students are well-prepared for more advanced mathematics coursework in high school. Her teaching approach includes interactive lessons, creative problem-solving, and careful and clear explanations of concepts and examples. “I try to find different ways for them to practice the concept we are working on by using puzzles, walk-around scavenger hunts, computer games, and escape rooms.” she says.
